for everyone
12th May 2007, Sat – Went up to Goh tong Jaya last Saturday for meeting and makan-makan. While there, me and my friend HJ found out that there is a secluded hot spring that is just 30 minutes drive from Genting Higland via the old road towards Batang Kali. We decided to be adventurous and recee the place.

From Gohtong Jaya, follow the sign board towards Batang Kali. It’s a very nice, scenic but windy road. Turn right into Kampung Kuantan when you see the Kampung Kuantan sign board. Pass through Kampung Kuantan and the Kampung Kuantan school. Just follow the road until you see the Hot Spring signboard. The hot spring sign board says “Simpang Ke Kolam Air Panas Dan Dusun Hulu Tamu, Batang Kali. 2.2M”. Actually the signboard is wrong as the distance in is more like 2.2KM. As you follow the road, there is more sign board until you reach the hot spring.

Eureka! We found it!
When we reached there, there were only an elderly couple there other than us. The area is relatively clean, although there were a bit of rubbish littered around the compound. But the hot spring pool is very clean and without any algae. Compared to Bentong Hot Spring, this condition is excellent. The water is really hot so you can’t really dip in for long, max time is 15min and you musn’t move, because every time you move, you will feel the sting of the hot water.

We had a good chat with the elderly couple, the uncle “Yong sifu” said that it’s good to bring a plastic Maggie cup mee container to block the pipe where the hot water source is flowing into the big pool to prevent the water from becoming too hot.
The aunty who there says the water is so hot, normally she will just bring a container to scoop the water unto her body.

Yong sifu was very nice and offered to show us a faster and nearer way back as he stays in Kepong. He even showed us the shop where we can get the best curry fish head in Batang Kali. Following Yong sifu’s direction, we passed Sungai Tua recreational area on the way back, Ulu Yam dam and exited at Selayang area, near Batu caves. I guess, if you are traveling from Kay Al, you can use Ulu Yam road, from Jalan Ipoh turning right into Jalan Sungai Tua, then following signage to Ulu Yam or towards Batang Kali.

A great plan to enjoy the hot spring would be driving there in the evening, camp overnight - have picnic dinner and do a midnight dip.

YES! YES! agree with HJ. Must love God's creation and keep the place clean when you visit.
It's really sad to see natural beauty get destroyed when it becomes popular.
